San Marcos Beach
Situated in a cosy bay of the northern coast of Tenerife, its name comes from the "San Marcos Evangelista" image venerated in the church of the same name in Icod. As usual in our northern beaches of Tenerife, we have black sand. In the Bay there is one small fishing harbor and other facilities.
Is located 3 km from home to "The Furnia House"
The security provided by this harbor, protected from most winds by the cliffs that surround it, with good anchorage, made it was chosen since the beginning of the conquest of Tenerife by sailors as a shelter in days of storm.
These favorable conditions and the proximity to the rich pine forests, that Icod had by that time, then promoted the timber trade and manufacture of boats, even those like galleons and frigates were built for the King's service.
